Job Description Summary
Responsible to eliminate all causes of failure and ensure full useful life in coordination with daily maintenance and operation completed by operating personnel. Leads activities of workers engaged in repair, operation, maintenance, and installation of machines, tools, and equipment. Provides technical and problem solving support for the plant and maintenance crews. Supports and executes plant specific maintenance strategies to achieve Plant's key performance goals for overall maintenance performance. Assures production schedules are met and all issues are resolved and communicated in a timely fashion. Inspects operating machines and equipment for conformance with operational standards. Reviews production, quality control, and maintenance reports and statistics to plan and modify maintenance activities. Manages and coordinates preventive and/or predictive maintenance programs. Assist others in the planning and execution of capital projects. Manages and develops direct reports to drive continuous improvement of technical and leadership capabilities.
This position is accountable for ensuring regulatory compliance of all elements of the OSHA Process Safety Management (PSM) Program and EPA Risk Management Plan (RMP) at the facility. The role supports facility-level risk management and compliance programs associated with PSM / RMP, ammonia refrigeration systems, chlorine disinfection systems, food plant HVAC, boiler & steam systems, and air handling systems.
Job Description
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Execute vision and mission of plant area of responsibility to assure continuous improvement and alignment with Corporate and Facility vision.
Ensure that all manufacturing/facility systems are properly resourced and that all resources are efficiently utilized.
Direct hourly maintenance associates in their roles and responsibilities to meet plant objectives in safety, quality, cost, and customer service.
Provide technical support for efficient troubleshooting/problem solving activities and maintenance repair to maximize efficiencies and limit downtime.
Continuously apply sound mechanical and electrical solutions to resolve hindrances to plant efficiencies and to drive continuous improvement.
Provide leadership in implementing/maintaining preventive and predictive maintenance programs.
Manage maintenance department costs within budgetary guidelines.
Ensure that appropriate inventory levels for standard replacement parts are maintained.
Manage the buildings and grounds as assigned such that good manufacturing practices (GMP) are adhered to and a professional appearance is maintained.
Perform root cause analysis to identify and resolve recurring downtime/inefficient operational issues.
Schedule mandatory inspections and coordinate certifications with appropriate authorities.
Ensure environmental compliance.
Ensure that Refrigeration system is operating under proper PSM guidelines and that the system is compliant with the PSM standard.
Knowledge of industrial ammonia refrigeration system
Knowledge of industrial water tube boilers and steam systems
Drive employee engagement, training, and development to maximize manufacturing, quality, safety, and productivity goal attainment.
Effectively communicate results and action plans to appropriate employees and managers.
Collaborate directly with human resources to insure employee issues or concerns are correctly addressed and resolved.
Collaborate with finance to create and execute a maintenance and capital budget to insure that financial allocations and obligations are set, administered and met.
Initiate cost savings measures.
Ensure all plant maintenance operations are conducted in a safe and controlled environment.
Ensure all quality and regulatory standards, specifications and policies are met or exceeded.
Oversees (and is accountable for) assuring day-to-day "ready" and compliant PSM / RMP programs at the facility, including management of all related program elements, PSM processes, training, and documentation / recordkeeping.
Supervises a PSM / RMP Coordinator and B&R team members to successfully execute all elements of the facility's PSM / RMP programs and operate covered process systems in a "PSM Culture."
Prepares capital and expense / repair budgets, related to PSM / RMP covered process equipment for submittal.
Works with members of the local leadership team (e.g., Engineering Manager, Maintenance Manager, Safety Manager, Environmental Manager and B&R Team Lead) to deliver annual self-assessments of PSM / RMP program elements to assure the on-going "health" of these processes. Participates with LW Corporate personnel with interim, no notice assessments of the PSM / RMP program elements and identifies improvement opportunities.
Trains B&R staff on equipment-specific or system operating procedures and safe work practices, "initially" and every three years thereafter. Documents training utilizing APSM Software and/or LW PSM Policy forms.
Oversees contractor work on PSM / RMP covered processes at the facility ? to assure acceptable contractor safety performance and the contractor's utilization of effective EHS programs in their work.
Is accountable for the effectiveness and integrity of the following processes: Process Hazard Analyses (PHAs), Management of Change(s) (MOCs), Pre-Start-Up-Safety Reviews (PSSRs), and Mechanical Integrity Inspections. Assures development of appropriate corrective actions, and tracks-to-close all recommendations resulting from these PSM processes.
Ensures all facility and/or corporate safe work practices are implemented and adhered to as it applies to the covered process(es), with special attention to "Hot Work", Line Breaking and Lockout/Tagout (LOTO).
Responsible for the development and overall coordination of the facility's three-shift HAZMAT emergency response team, as it relates to PSM covered process chemicals (i.e., ammonia and/or chlorine gas). Responsible for assuring the team operates in a seamless incident command structure.
Actively participates in PSM / RMP related incident investigations and corrective and preventive action development at the facility.
Participates in the facility's Compliance Audits.
Job Qualifications
Qualifications/ Education/ Experience/ Skills
Bachelor's Degree in a related field (Engineering, Industrial Management, Manufacturing, Production Operations Management) or equivalent experience. (preferred)
Certification/Certificate program in Ammonia Refrigeration Technology or equivalent work experience
Excellent communication, presentation, and negotiation skills
Strong computer application skills, network and PC business application software.
Basic mathematical and statistical skills
Basic financial skills and understanding
Food industry and experience in a union/union free environment preferred
Key Leadership Competencies in addition to Ethics/Values and Integrity/Trust, (Action Oriented, Directing Others, Priority Setting, Decision Quality, Organizing, Process Management,).
Solid knowledge of manufacturing and refrigeration system operations
Good leadership, interpersonal and presentation skills. Ability to communicate with multiple levels of the organization.
Experience with developing and implementing training programs
Minimum of 3 years food industry experience (preferred)

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
